Teaching Philosophy
Teaching political science presents unique challenges because many of the topics we examine are politically contentious and often evoke strong opinions. My approach emphasizes creating an environment where students can engage with complex issues through evidence, critical thinking, and respectful discussion. I strive to understand the perspectives and interests that students bring to the classroom and connect course material to questions and issues that are relevant to their lives.
My teaching is guided by clear learning objectives and transparent expectations, while remaining attentive to student comprehension and retention throughout the semester. I incorporate technology and contemporary resources when they enhance learning and help students engage more effectively with course content. Ultimately, I aim to equip students with the analytical skills necessary to evaluate political institutions, processes, and debates in a thoughtful and informed manner.
As both a scholar and instructor, I remain committed to continuous professional development, incorporating new research, pedagogical strategies, and instructional tools to improve the classroom experience and support student success.
